Head of Special Events and Supporter Engagement, the Natural History Museum

The Museum has set out an ambitious five-year strategic plan to respond best to global scientific challenges and engage society in that mission, and a succession of exciting initiatives are transforming the Museum’s experience both within and outside its walls - nationally, globally and digitally.
Renowned as an iconic and highly desirable venue for corporate events ranging from fashion shows to exclusive parties, the NHM is now looking to create and deliver an ambitious schedule of high profile NHM special events to position and promote the NHM brand with leading national and international influencers, supporters and stakeholders.
To realise this programme, we are now seeking a Head of Special Events and Supporter Engagement. In this new role, you will create and manage an exceptional annual programme of over 40 events to be the showcase for the Museum – from exhibition launches and Royal Gala dinners to intimate donor dinners – each designed to give our guests memorable experiences at the Museum and to deepen their engagement with us.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Communications, you will also contribute to the overall strategic planning for the Development and Communications Group, responsible for leading advancement for the Museum.
The successful candidate will have significant expertise in event management together with creative flair. You will have a clear customer focus with a strong eye for detail and be culturally sensitive. Proven experience of managing stakeholder relationships, leading a team and working closely with senior staff are also vital.
