Revealed: the Jose Mourinho and Rui Faria of the lobbying world
Watch: Nick Vaughan and Lionel Zetter played their parts in the annual Tory conference football match.
Congrats to Cicero Consulting head of trade Ben Roback who picked up man of the match during the Lobby XI v MPs football match at Tory conference.
Thanks to the endeavours of organisers iNHouse Communications and the FA, the Tory MP team this year was managed by football legend John Barnes. But they still managed to lose 5-0.
As was the case at last week’s match against Labour, the lobby team got Railway Industry Association boss and APPC management committee member Darren Caplan as a ringer. The MPs should have got iNHouse Communications adviser Simon Petar but he only lasted a few minutes as he pulled his groin warming up.
Roback was playing for the losing MPs but Barnes gave him man of the match “because if wasn’t for Ben it would have been ten”.
See the action on a video which also features FA public affairs chief Nick Vaughan and lobbying industry supremo (and FA adviser) Lionel Zetter disembarking the team coach like Jose Mourinho and Rui Faria.
Or Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, if you prefer.
