PRCA boss channels his inner Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher

Where there is discord, Francis Ingham wants to bring harmony.

Who the hell does PRCA director general Francis Ingham think he is?

Judging by Ingham’s remarks about the creation of a new PRCA public affairs board executive committee the answer seems to be Margaret Thatcher. Or Tony Blair.

In his 1997 general election victory speech, Blair famously declared that “we ran for office as New Labour, we will govern as New Labour”.

Following his recent APPC-PRCA merger victory, Ingham has now pledged that "those of us who campaigned for merger did so on the basis of clear commitments laid out in our MoU. Those commitments will now be delivered speedily and in full".

Upon her election as prime minister in 1979, Thatcher famously quoted St. Francis of Assisi. "Where there is discord, may we bring harmony," he said.

Meanwhile Ingham has said today that he is determined "to make discord a thing of the past".

Surely a job as Number 10 chief speechwriter beckons. In the meantime, Mr Stakeholder is waiting with baited breath to see what the PRCA boss does with Gordon Brown's excellent "bigoted woman" rhetoric...
